This website seeks to involve a community of neighbors for the purpose of improving the facilities and utilization of the Highland Heights Park in Bellingham, Washington. You are encouraged to use this site to arrange for social gatherings in the park, involve in discussions about the park, share photos and videos of your events in the park, or otherwise communicate about how this important neighborhood space can and should be utilized. Alabama Hill Association Meeting at Bloedel-Donovan Pavillion

May 5, 2009 from 7pm to 9pm

At this AHA quarterly meeting, a representative of the Park's Department will be presenting preliminary concept drawings for Highland Heights Park. Feedback is sought.

City Council Meeting Video

Doug Bestle's comments about the park occur at about 30 minutes, then again at about 1:21:00.

City Council November Meeting

At the November 24th City Council meeting Doug Bestle delivered some very nice public comments in support of the park. He noted that our slide had been removed for safety issues and that our swings may be the next to go. He also remarked that the neighborhood would like to conduct fundraising to assist with the upgrade of the park. City Council member Louise Bjornson commended the neighborhood for considering the fundraising actions.

Park Update on 2009-2010 Park's Budget

The director of the city parks emailed me with the news that an update of our park made it on their budget with design to occur in 2009 and implementation in 2010. This budget still requires approval (presumably by the city council).
